Our Team

Kenneth Murray

Senior Attorney

Leveraging a multi-faceted career in engineering, Ken began his legal career as principal patent analyst for the University of California, Davis. He founded Murray Tech Law, located in the heart of the dynamic and progressive city of Davis, California, just a few blocks from the highly-respected University of California, Davis. Over the past 14 years, Ken has created an innovative law and technology intellectual property practice. During that time, he formed, invested in, and worked with several high-tech companies involved in energy, software, medical devices, advanced telecommunications, and healthcare software.

Ken is a registered patent attorney licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, as well as a member of the California State Bar. He graduated cum laude from the University of South Carolina-Columbia and received his law degree from the University of California, Davis.

Oh, yes – Ken is also an accomplished heavy crane and equipment operator.

David Smith


David is a licensed attorney and a member of the California State Bar. David also has a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego.

Before entering law school, David worked as a production chemist at LIFE Technologies in Pleasanton, California.

Jay Jongjitirat


Jay is a licensed attorney and member of the California State Bar, as well as a registered United States patent agent. He received his law degree from the University of California, Davis and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Washington.

Prior to joining Murray Tech Law, Jay worked as an intern at NASA Ames Research Center, where he focused on the application of ceramic coatings for space shuttle tile. Additionally, he spent time at NASA as a legal intern in the Office of Chief Counsel, where he dealt with a variety of issues involving intellectual property, technology law, space law, real property, federal procurement, and employment law. Jay has also worked for Services for International Students and Scholars at UC Davis, where he assisted with visa processing and permanent residency applications.

Jay served as Technical Editor of Vol. 42 of the UC Davis Law Review and published an article analyzing patent law and the use of secondary considerations in nonobviousness determinations by the Federal Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court.
